Sugared Asparagus

Yeild: 4-6 servings 1 vegetable exchange plus 1 fat exchange. Recipe courtesy of www.recipesource.com.

Ingredients  

3 tablespoons butter
OR
3 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 pounds fresh asaragus cut into 2" pieces
1 cup chicken broth
* By using the brown sugar substitute with this would make a nice side dish for the "sweet ones"

Directions  

1. In a skillet over medium-high, heat butter and brown sugar until it is dissolved.
2. Add asparagus and sauté for 2 minutes.
3. Stir in chicken broth and bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until asparagus is crisp to tender.
5. Move asparagus to a serving dish and keep warm.
6. Cook sauce, uncovered, until reduced by half.
7. Pour over asparagus and serve immediately.
